Abstract
ABSTRACT
The study was about the Role of Integrated Financial Management Information System in Public Financial Management: A case of Dokolo District Local Government. The study was guided by the following specific objectives: 1) To examine the effect of information quality on Public Financial Management in Dokolo District Local Government, 2) To assess the effect of staff competence on public Financial Management in Dokolo District Local Government, 3) To determine the effect of system security on Public Financial Management in Dokolo District Local Government. The study aimed at testing the following null hypothesis; H: There is no significant effect of information quality on public financial management in Dokolo District Local Government, H2: There is no significant effect of staff competence on public financial management in Dokolo District Local Government, H: There is no significant effect of system security on public financial management in Dokolo District Local Government. The study adopted a descriptive research design, the researcher applied a quantitative research approach which involved presenting results based on statistics or numbers. The study population was 193 with a sample of 138 respondents obtained through purposive and simple random sampling. From the study findings; the cluster mean for Information Quality was 3.58 indicating that respondents believed there was evidence of Information Quality ensured by Dokolo District Local Government. The cluster mean for Staff Competence was 3.41 indicating that respondents believed there was evidence of staff competence in terms of skills, knowledge and usage of IFMIS in Dokolo District Local Government. The cluster mean for System Security was 3.85, indicating that respondents believed that generally there was evidence of System Security by the District Local Government and the cluster mean for Public Financial Management was 3.74, indicating that respondents believed there was evidence of effective Public Financial Management by Dokolo District Local Government. This study recommends that capacity building and training be embraced to achieve the intended objective of IFMIS, Firm commitment and support of both the political and technical wing is very vital in the success of IFMIS in improving PFM, Implementation of IFMIS should be prioritized in the most important and critical areas such as budget execution and expenditure management which are more complicated and non-transparent.
