Abstract
Grant management is vital for funding healthcare and improving health service delivery. Despite efforts in grant mobilization and planning, healthcare delivery Kwania district faces shortages in medical equipment, infrastructure, and essential drugs. This study sought to evaluate the effect of grant management on healthcare service delivery in Kwania District. This study employed a cross-sectional design using mixed methods to assess the impact of grant management on health service delivery in Kwania District. A sample size of 114 respondents from a population of 152, determined using Krejcie and Morgan's formula, was used. Quantitative data were gathered using closed-ended questionnaires, while qualitative data were collected through structured interviews. Data analysis incorporated descriptive and inferential statistics. Descriptive statistics included mean, standard deviation, frequencies and percentages while inferential statistics included Pearson correlation and linear regression. The linear regression analysis revealed that grant management variables explained 17% of the variability in health service delivery in Kwania District. Among the variables, only grant control had a significant positive effect on health service delivery (B = 0.417, p 0.041), indicating that better grant control practices are associated with improved health service delivery. However, grant planning (B 0.113, p=0.563) and implementation of grant management plans (B-0.148, p-0.317), did not show significant effect on health service delivery. The study concluded that while grant control significantly enhances health service delivery, grant planning and implementation did not show significant effects. It is recommended that efforts should focus on improving grant control practices to boost health service delivery. Additionally, further research is needed to explore other factors impacting health service delivery beyond grant management.
